The drums were out and the dance moves in full view- The Brazilian Samba had just appeared. With the performance of the tournament till date , they lit up a dry World Cup. This performance was even better than the Argentinian demolition of South Korea. Ivory Coast are a good team with great talents amidst them but there was only one team making the moves yesterday. Wave after wave of Brazilian attack was too much for the Côte d’Ivoire boys. The second half especially showed what Brazil are capable of. Using the full width of the football field they destroyed the opposition with breathtaking passing. It was not so much the individual brilliance that Argentina showed but a flowing team performance. The defence was also very good, putting Brazil back as the top team to beat this time.
Fabiano opened in the first half after even exchanges initially with a beautifully struck goal. His second goal consisted of two hand balls which the referee didn’t spot and neither did the opposition. It was still some beautiful movement by the Brazilian team that got him in a goal scoring position. The third goal involved Kaka who made a good run and passed it for Elano to get his second of the tournament. Kaka must have felt good after being invisible for long but he got yellow carded twice in succession without reason and will miss the next match. It was dreadful umpiring. Ivory Coast got one back through Drogba but Brazil had their measure. They could have pumped in more it seemed.
As I write Portugal has completed a 7-0 rout of North Korea, setting up an interesting clash with Brazil. A draw will get them through assuming Ivory Coast beat North Korea. Anyway the Goals are coming thick and fast and I hope Spain regains it’s form against the Honduras to set up a mouthwatering clash with Chile in the final group match. I think we are in for a fabulous week of football ahead.
